The Wisconsin Geothermal Association is a non-profit organization advocating for the usage of geothermal heating and cooling systems in Wisconsin. The WGA is a source of information for anyone interested in utilizing a geothermal system for a home, business, or school.
Geothermal systems have been proven to deliver excellent occupant comfort in this region, while saving energy and reducing emissions. The systems take advantage of the earth's constant year-round ground temperature to provide heating, cooling and hot water in a variety of applications. One of our members in your region can assist you in utilizing this efficient technology; simply click on Find a Geothermal Professional to locate one in your area.
New Federal Incentives for Geothermal Systems
One positive result of the recent Federal ‘Bailout’ Bill is an array of new energy incentives, including tax credits for geothermal heat pump systems. These incentives are effective immediately and are available for both residential and commercial systems. This should help geothermal grow in Wisconsin!
The residential tax credit is for 30% of the cost of a system, with a maximum credit of $2,000. More information on this tax credit can be found at the following link: Residential Renewable Energy Tax Credit
The commercial tax credit is for 10% of the cost of a system, with no maximum. More information on this tax credit can be found at the following link: Corporate Renewable Energy Tax Credit
